On Friday, I met representatives of STOP350 and other local campaigners concerned with proposed developments on Mersea Island. The meeting, which lasted an hour, covered concerns regarding the impact on roads, the environment, and the NHS.
This was a very informative discussion on the concerns some residents have over the Colchester Council's planned housing developments on the Island. It is always difficult when development proposals are raised with me as the local Member of Parliament, as these decisions ultimately are made by the Council. However, it is important that residents who are affected by these plans are listened to. They have a better idea than most of the strains that can be placed on public services, and I will be doing all I can to ensure their concerns are heard by the Council. I will be discussing the concerns raised in more detail with the Envorinment Agency and the local authority shortly.
