If, like me you travel regularly by car, you probably spend most of your time on either the A12 or the A120 and have probably been infuriated by stationary queues caused by roadworks, been ashamed of the amount of litter on the side of our roads and let down by the number of potholes that plague the road.
Additionally, residents and villages around the A12 and A120 will have concerns about the traffic diverted onto minor roads which were never designed for the numbers of cars and larger vehicles that are being redirected. It is insufferable for the residents of Dedham and the surrounding towns and villages, and the roads authorities must grip this as soon as possible.
While works carried out by National Highways implement vital and long called improvements, I am conscious of ensuring that they're carried out with the least disruption and that local authorities fulfil their responsibility for clearing litter.
Another major campaign I am fighting on is securing the A1331 link road that was promised alongside the Tendring Garden Community plans.
The development was always contingent on sufficient infrastructure upgrades, and that includes a new road to stop traffic from the North of Colchester heading South having to go through the gridlocked areas around the Hythe and towards Wivenhoe. Anyone who has driven these roads know Clingoe Hill and the surrounding roads will buckle under the enormous number of car movements that will occur without the link-road. I have fought against the ridiculous proposal to build without the road and held a debate in Parliament on this very issue. With ongoing support from the local Councils, we continue the fight for Government funding of the road, which must not be funded at the expense of other proposed services like the planned schools and healthcare provision.
