Bernard at Halterman Carless

Recently I visited Haltermann Carless, a provider of speciality hydrocarbons in Harwich. I was incredibly impressed with the work they do and their strong commitment to the benefits of apprenticeships and community engagement. Like me, they believe that apprenticeships can help reduce the gap between skills and demand in the workforce.

During my visit, they made me aware of challenged they faced around higher-level apprenticeships (level 6+) informing me that the provision of higher-level apprenticeships where formal qualifications are obtained are less attractive due to overcomplexities.

That is why I am supporting their desire to see the degree level apprenticeship process simplified so that employees who are looking to gain formal qualifications without the additional apprenticeship workload are still able to support businesses in terms of gaining the skills they need for the future.
