It was great to be out and about in the constituency on Friday to support local businesses and provide updates on some of our most important campaigns.
My first stop was a visit to a fantastic local reindeer hire company ahead of their busy Christmas season. They’ll soon be spreading festive cheer at events right across the country, a brilliant local business doing something truly special at this time of year and it was a wonderful experience feeding the reindeers!
Next, I visited the proposed Norwich to Tilbury pylon site where I filmed a short video with Martin Snook about the project and our ongoing campaign to stop it. You can find this video on my facebook page.
If you’d like to join the campaign against it, please join us at Cllr Zoe Fairley’s public meeting at Ardleigh Village Hall on the evening of 21st November at 7pm and for those who feel able and willing, the Ardleigh Parish Council has a legal fund to challenge the planning application which you can donate to here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/.../ardleigh-legal-fund...
Finally, I stopped at Salmons Lane on the A120, one of the most dangerous roads in Essex. Even on a normal day, traffic is heavy and congestion severe. We’ve long campaigned for a safe dual carriageway, but plans keep being delayed and now the A12 upgrade has also been cancelled by the government which will only make things worse!
Until this route is improved, it’s simply not safe or sustainable for further housing development along it.
