Bernard’s submission to Colchester City Council’s Local Plan Consultation

The impact of large levels of development in my constituency of Harwich and North Essex is very considerable. The Tendring Colchester Boards Garden Community is expected to deliver 7,500 dwellings, with Colchester City Councils proposed Local Plan adding an extra 3,089 homes, principally concentrated in the small villages surrounding the city.

I have submitted evidence to the Colchester City Council Preferred Options Local Plan Regulation 18 Consultation, setting out concerns about Colchester’s rapid population expansion, infrastructure deficits, healthcare capacity, the road network and the feasibility of modal shift.
