I remain firmly opposed to the Norwich to Tilbury project! This development would bring unacceptable damage to our countryside, farmland, and rural communities!
Here's a look at some of the actions I’ve recently taken to stand against it:
1. I have submitted evidence to the Planning Inspectorate opposing the North Falls Offshore Windfarm, and to the Energy Security and Net Zero Parliamentary Committee regarding the lack of clear planning standards in the draft National Policy Statement. In particular, there is still no requirement to prioritise High Voltage Direct Current transmission over intrusive overhead pylons.

2. Last month, I joined East Anglian and Essex Conservative MPs in writing to the Energy Secretary, urging a proper assessment of alternative approaches to the Norwich to Tilbury project. (View the letter below

3. I continue to have regular conversations with ministers and their officials, National Grid, Tarchon and with the National Energy System Operator to press for alternative approaches to both the Tarchon interconnector and the Norwich to Tilbury pylons project. This work is done in close coordination with the Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk Pylons (ESNP) campaign.
I will continue to do everything I can to stop this damaging proposal and to fight for a fairer, more sustainable approach to delivering our energy needs which properly considers the common-sense alternatives.
